At James Moore Racing, our philosophy is simple: put the horse first, and the results will follow. Based on the Sunshine Coast, we are building a stable that blends modern training practices with a family legacy that has shaped Australian racing for generations.
A Family Legacy
Racing is in our blood. James is the son of renowned international jockey and trainer Gary Moore and the grandson of the legendary George Moore, one of Australia’s greatest ever jockeys. This heritage has instilled in him a deep respect for the sport, a relentless work ethic, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the track.
Global Experience, Local Success
James’s career began in Macau, where he became one of the youngest trainers to hold a license, before moving to Japan to train privately for New World Racing. These experiences sharpened his horsemanship and broadened his perspective on what it takes to compete at the highest levels. Returning home to Queensland, he established his stable at Caloundra with the same determination and professionalism that has underpinned the Moore family name for decades.
Since returning, James has quickly made his mark. Early wins with horses like Silly Salmon announced his arrival, and the continued rise of gallopers such as Best Coffee has confirmed his ability to produce consistent results with horses of all types. His growing team now numbers more than 20 in work, with a strike rate and reputation that continue to build season on season.
